Welcome!

Greetings and welcome to the 2024 Session of Course “Mega Goal  3.2”! I am looking forward to this semester and can't wait to meet you.

  • Course Objectives:

By the end of this course you will be able to

• interact with academic content: reading, writing, listening, speaking.

• demonstrate ability to think critically.

  • Note

I will be introducing some new ideas on this subject as well as a new approach to the actual teaching. As a result, the schedule is likely to change as may other details of the course. My policy is that such changes will never hurt the student grades.

  • Coursework Feedback and Grading

Your contributions to the various team tasks and class participation will be

used to assess understanding of basic knowledge. A final group project will be used to assess the student’s ability to apply concepts to real-world problems within a team environment. Assignments must be submitted on the day it is due. There will be a one-hour grace period. After the grace period, the final grade on your assignment will be subject to a –50% penalty.

Your course grades will be determined using the following points:

The final grade is determined by the following scale:

A=100-90, B=89-80, and so forth.

Participation: This does not include class attendance. Prepare the lesson in advance and work together with your group mates. Further, the emphasis is on the quality of contributions not the quantity. Important: No marks are subtracted if you say something “wrong”. This helps other students clarify their misconceptions. However, if you don’t say anything at all, it doesn’t help you. If you have something to say, no matter how silly, raise your hand.

Assignment: We will have a writing assignment at the end of each unit in the textbook.

Textbook and workbook: You should bring them every time you attend class.

Written and listening quiz: We will have both quizzes right after the end of each unit.

Project: You should hand it over before the dead line. Late projects will not get the full mark.

In class activities: You will do presentations or debates in order to improve your speaking skill and gain self confidence.

  • Late Work Policy:  There are no make-ups for in-class writing, quizzes, or the final exam.

  • Extra Credit Policy: Student can earn extra credits if they became creative.

  • Course Policies: Technology and Media

Phone Usage: Turn off all cell phones etc. It’s never fine to have a cell phone ring during class time; unless you have an emergency situation which needs to let me know before the class.

  • Classroom Etiquette

The highest standards for respectful, ethical, and honorable behavior are expected of everyone in the classroom. Please be courteous with respect to your fellow classmates and your instructor.

  • Feedback

I value feedback highly, so I hope you will feel comfortable approaching me or

e mailing me with your suggestions, questions, and criticisms. I will use the feedback to make adjustments in order to accommodate the needs of students in this class while also using the feedback for continuous improvement of the course and my teaching.

I will ask for structured anonymous feedback at times during the course, but do not wait until then to approach me. Please, feel free to contact me any time. I appreciate and welcome your thoughts.
